  2. Chrysler's Dangerous e-Shift Design

Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) made the switch from a traditional gear shifter to a monostable electronically controlled one and the result has been disastrous. The unintuitive design is responsible for hundreds of rollaway incidents and widely believ…

  3. TIPM Electrical Problems

If you've heard of a TIPM, chances are you own a vehicle from Fiat-Chrysler (FCA). Think of it like a command center for all the electrical functions of your car, and in FCA's case a very, very disfunctional one.

  1. Pay extra attention if you’re driving around in a 2018 Pacifica or Pacifica Hybrid minivan.

Fiat-Chrysler says the vans could experience a sudden separation of the right front lower control arm ball joint studs from the steering knuckles. That’s a disaster if you’re a fan of steering control.

All vans built between 11/01/2017 and 03/01/2018 will be recalled starting next month.

  2. Is that a light at the end of the Takata recall tunnel?

Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) says they’ve entered the _ fourth and final stage_ by recalling 1.6 million passenger-side inflators. The bulk of the vehicles are in the US and include the 2010-2015 Chrysler 300.

FCA has replaced nearly 4 million inflators in a series of recalls dating back to 2014. The defective part if responsible for at least 23 deaths and 300 injuries.

  3. Takata is like a nightmare we just can’t wake up from.

Did you know it’s been almost five years since the first recall? Anyone else ever think we’d be staring down the barrel of yet another recall expansion which I might shorten to YARE form now on. Fun fact: YARE is very similar to the screaming noise I make each time I hear the word Takata now.

Chrysler is recalling 317,000 vehicles, including the Chrysler 300. That’s a pretty small piece of the 3.3 million vehicle recall pie that’s happening across the entire industry right now. David Woods of CarComplaints.com has the full breakdown of which model years and in what zones.…

  4. **Do

s your 2016 Chrysler 200's steering feel a bit loose? There might be a good reason why because Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) says the chassis fastener joints can fail or fall out and cause problems with steering and handling.

Well, that would stink. There are multiple checkpoints in assembly lines meant to avoid situations like this, but here we are anyway.

FCA didn't say how many cars were affected, but did say they already notified the limited number of owners as part of a recall.

  5. Three fatalities. Five injuries. One massive recall for Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) vehicles.

The automaker says it opened an investigation in April 2015 after 10 crashes were reported, and after months of research, engineers determined the occupant restraint control modules may short-circuit and prevent the frontal airbags-and-seat-belts, seat belt pre-tensioners and side air bags from deploying in a crash.

At the time the recall was announced, FCA didn't have a solution or a date when the it'd begin. There's a full list of the 1.9 million recalled vehicles on CarComplaints.com, and those looking for more info can call FCA at 800-853-1403. Give them recall number S61.

  6. Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) is recalling certain vehicles that may experience a sudden loss of propulsion because their wiring harnesses weren't crimped enough. Come on FCA, crimp my ride.

The automaker was examining warranty data and opened an investigation that determined an insufficient crimp in a wire harness could cause a fault code in the solenoid. If that occurs, the vehicle will stop moving, something Chrysler says can temporally be fixed by stopping the vehicle and re-starting the engine.

  7. FCA says it's time to dump the transmission pumps in 37,000 vans and SUVs.

An internal investigation by FCA found their transmission pumps "may not conform to specifications" and can cause a sudden loss of propulsion.

"Recalled are 2015-2016 Dodge Journey crossover SUVs, 2015-2016 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans and 2016 Ram ProMaster full-size vans."

There's no word on when the recall will begin.

  8. Own a 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Stratus with a beige interior?

Your car might be part of a recall for sun visor straps. Again.

"The cars were previously repaired for a June 2015 recall issue using an incorrect part that may not prevent the passenger side sun visor from detaching if the passenger frontal airbag deploys and the passenger side sun visor is folded down in a certain position."…

  9. What's worse than seat belts that don't work? How about seat belts that don't work and can turn into projectiles in a crash.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivans have overhead seat belt stow clips that can break and cause the seat belts to be useless in a crash. The clips can also turn into projectiles and cause harm to occupants.

The issue was narrowed to Pacifcas built between 02/22/2016 and 04/28/2016, roughly 3,500 vans. They'll all need to be recalled, but Chrysler hasn't said when that'll begin.

  10. Some 2016 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravans are being recalled to make sure the third row seats don't fall off.

The recalled vehicles were built between March 16, 2016 and March 17, 2016.

"[The vehicles] have nuts on the third-row seatback that weren't torqued properly during assembly. The loose bolts may not hold the seatback, even more so in a crash."

The recall is expected to begin on on June 30, 2016.

  11. Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) recently recalled a whopping 4.3 million vehicles because of their dangerous Takata airbag inflators.

This includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and even a few Mitsubishi trucks.

This latest round of recalls has been split into what the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is calling "zones" across the country. See the full list of recalled vehicles.…

  12. Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) is recalling 1.1 million vehicles with electronic gear selectors.

While the system is working as it was designed, it's the design that's the problem.

"A driver should know the gear-selection based on multiple sets of indicator lights, unlike normal shifters that use a gear-selector position. However, hundreds of drivers have caused their vehicles to roll away because of not realizing the vehicles aren't in Park."…

  13. The occupant classification system (OCS) in some Chrysler 200's might not be able to, well ... classify occupants.

During a previous OCS recall, some Chrysler 200's had the passenger-side module replaced. Others had new seat foam above the module installed. Unfortunately, if you don't replace both at the same time then the whole system's calibration could be off.

That's bad news for you (but worse news for your passengers.)

  14. Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) used expired primer to install the windshields in the 2015-2016 Chrysler Town and Country and 2014-2015 Dodge Grand Caravan.

And guess what? It's doing a terrible job preventing windshields from falling out.

"_The automaker says lab results showed using urethane with a primer that expired in July 2015 always passed the tests. However, using urethane with a primer that expired in January 2015 failed 100 percent of the time._"

    Shocking.
